Before styling your child's hair, try to get a complete understanding of her hair texture. Once you've figured out the texture, you can begin to use the right products, tools, hair care techniques, and age appropriate hairstyle. Textures can be classified in 3 categories: Type 2 Wavy Hair, Type 3 Curly, and Type 4 Kinky or Coily. Your child's hair may have a combination of these textures or only one type.

These textures also come in different lengths and thickness, which will play a major role in how you take care of your child's hair. Please keep in mind that your child has his or her own special genetic design and their natural hair texture will change extensively between infancy and the age of four. It's highly important that you recognize the changes and take care of it accordingly
